The holiday season is upon us! I worked retail for years, so I've learned some things about how to stay (relatively) sane and healthy!
My family loves to bake and eat! It is super easy for me to pack on the pounds in the holiday season - all the sweets and treats and wine! My trainer Cody gave me the best advice on how to not over-indulge: stick to cheese or sweets, not both. It really isn't as hard of a rule to follow as it seems, I've noticed that places that have an awesome cheese tray usually have just okay desserts and vice versa.
Be nice to the retail workers and anyone in the service industry! Everyone is tired and cranky - not just you. Taking it out on a member of the service industry may relieve your spleen in the immediate, but it isn't going to get what you need done and it is going to make you feel yucky in the long run.
Put your shopping cart away! It makes me bonkers when people leave their shopping carts - parking spaces taken, cars scratched. It's awful!
Pay it forward - buy someone behind you their coffee, open the door for people, leave a $5 gift card on someone's car. It always amazes me how much better I feel when I do something small like that!
Put workouts in your calendar - it is SO EASY to fall off the workout wagon during the holidays with all the events on the docket. I have found that if I take the time to put a workout on my calendar, I am more likely to make it. Bonus points if it is a workout that you lose $ if you don't show - a barre class or an appointment with a trainer!
Shop ONLINE when you can! Check out my gift guides for inspiration! Save yourself the hassle and have things shipped directly to you! I've already saved a ton of money with Ebates, and with their 4 time a year "Big Fat Checks" I am looking at the one I will get in January as a deferred saving plan!
