Back in January, my friend Tamara and I started planning a weekend trip to the Smokies. I had this idea of bringing Chico so I found a dog-friendly cabin in Townsend, Tennessee. Tamara really wanted wild man Dingo to come too, so we planned for him to join. Willie declined the trip and went to stay with my parents. We also talked our friend Dieke into joining us!
Like all good trips, ours went awry almost immediately with a late start following by Chico having a little episode in the car. This resulted in Chico riding in my backseat, Dingo riding shotgun with me and Tamara and Dieke riding separate. Le sigh. You know you've got great friends when they roll with your dogs crazy.
Anyway, we spent Friday night drinking wine and playing games. My abs hurt the next morning from laughing! In the morning, we took the boys for a quick walk and then headed to a trail to hike. I hadn't thought about no dogs being allowed within the National Park.. so they stayed at the cabin!
We thought we were headed toward a vista called Rocky Top, but we managed to take the wrong trail at the sign below and ended up hiking a lot of strenuous miles in the wrong direction..
Nothing to do but laugh at ourselves! We still saw plenty of gorgeous things!
We got back, sore calves and hamstrings, in time for sunset and cocktails at the cabin!
