I am still full-on obsessed with the gang from Central Perk. FRIENDS is my go-to, its what I always have on. I know exactly what line is coming and still laugh like an idiot.
Much like Sex and the City, everyone had a character they hoped people would identify with them. I don't think anyone would ever call me a Phoebe, as I'm simply just not as laid back and uninhibited as Princess Consuela Banana Hammock (though maybe I am just as weird..). Speaking of Princess Consuela, what a freaking amazing episode. Could Paul Rudd have been any better as Phoebe's husband?
I am probably mostly A Monica. She is high strung and likes to be in charge. She can't handle playing games without keeping score, something I truly identify with. But, I am DEFINITELY not as neat and clean as Mrs. Gellar-Bing. Chandler was definitely my favorite male character though, those one-liners and the facial expressions.
I always wanted to be A Rachel. I mean, who didn't? Rachel Karen Green is beautiful, funny, smart, and works in fashion. She definitely had the best clothes and hair throughout all 10 seasons. Her main drawback is that she ends up with Ross, which I still to this day do not understand.
Anyway, last night I was privileged to get to go to the lovely wedding of my dear friend Sarah. It was a beautiful, quintessentially Kentucky wedding - outdoor in a barn in Cox's Creek. It is also summer in Kentucky so it is HUMID. Thus, when my dress arrived from Rent the Runway and was made of a much thicker, rather quilted material than it appeared on the site I knew I would be a sweaty mess if I attempted to wear it.
Luckily, I had the Bailey44 Black Headwind Dress from my Rent The Runway Unlimited subscription (more about that in another post).
Confession time: I wore it to a YWC event on Thursday night.. but, I loved it. I pulled it back out and was so happy to wear it to Sarah's fun summer wedding.
What does this dress have to do with FRIENDS? I keep calling it the Rachel Green Dress. Couldn't you just see her wearing it circa seasons 1-3? I let my hair be free and airdrop because lets face it, #hairbyhumidity, and I felt like Jennifer Aniston would approve. All night I kept singing "I'll be there for youuuuu" in my head.
Here's to the 90s fashion - lets keep just the cute stuff coming and leave terrible stuff in the past!
