About Me

Hello, my name is Cathy.

Oh, hello there!  My name is Cathy and I'm so happy you are here.  This blog began as an instagram account because I wasn't sure people would want to read what I had to say.  A brilliant friend over at HerKentucky.com urged me to share my stories, so here I am.  Just a girl, standing in front of the internet, asking it to like her.  And if you don't, blame Heather at HerKentucky.  :)

As my blog name suggests, I am first and foremost a Dog Lady.  Though I am 32 years old, my mom has mentioned that she still worries I may be kidnapped by someone in a van telling me there are puppies... Though many dogs have stolen my heart, there are three main players these days.  My main man is a 12.5 lb sausage of a Papillon who owns everyone he meets.  Willie came into my life at 6 months old when my sister couldn't take care of him and has owned me every single day for the last 9 and half years.  He's a sassy little man who loves a good bow tie or costume.  Chico entered my life the same time his dad (the boyfriend) did almost 3 years ago, and quickly switched allegiances to team mom.  He is a 12 year old (ish) super mutt that looks like a little bear cub and has become my fiercest protector.  Dingo St. John is the most recent addition, a sweet puppy that the boyfriend spotted at the shelter in St. John USVI.  This little dude spent the first 8 months of his life tied to a tree and now lives it up in Kentucky - our journey home is a whole other topic of conversation.  Despite having these three absolutely boss me around, I never fail to stop and pet a dog and tell it that it is the most wonderful creature I've ever met.  I also am a pretty kickass dog auntie to some great puppers!

A huge part of my life has been spent around horses - thoroughbreds to be exact.  I attempted the riding thing for a while and two accidents in one summer led me to believe that perhaps I was meant to be a supporter not avid rider.  My dad has had race horses since before I was born and to say its a genetic quirk to love racing is an understatement.  Some of my best childhood memories involve various tracks around Kentucky.

My other loves include travel, fashion, and wine (particularly the bubbly kinds).  So come along for this ride and see my weirdly beautiful life!
